The Department of Homeland Security has awarded Amazon Web Services a $60.4 million contract for cloud hosting services, effective September 1, 2026. The award was made by DHS's Office of Procurement Operations.

AWS extends its federal cloud dominance with another nine-figure DHS deal.

Amazon (AMZN) wins directly. AWS is already the dominant federal cloud provider, and this contract extends its foothold in DHS—a massive, mission-critical customer. The deal validates AWS's security posture and reinforces its position as the default choice for government agencies. Each federal cloud win compounds AWS's competitive moat and locks in multi-year revenue.

Microsoft MSFT and Google Cloud (GOOGL) face continued exclusion from this customer segment, though both have federal cloud offerings. The gap between AWS's federal market share and its competitors' remains wide.
